Sitemap Generator
Paste a list of URLs, get a ready XML sitemap or sitemap index
Mode
One URL per line. Optionally add "url, changefreq, priority, lastmod" — any part you omit uses the defaults below.
XML sitemaps with correct lastmod signals
Crawl a start URL or paste routes — priorities, changefreq and W3C-dated lastmod generate schema-valid XML you can submit anywhere.
URL list in, XML out
Paste one URL per line with optional changefreq, priority, and lastmod columns, set defaults for skipped fields, and watch the URL count update as you paste.
Sitemap index mode
The index mode takes existing sitemap URLs and emits a sitemap-index.xml wrapper, so multi-file sites keep one discovery point for crawlers.
Standards-compliant XML
The output follows the sitemaps.org schema with a urlset or sitemapindex root, and the download button saves the file with the correct .xml extension.
Protocol details handled for you
- Namespace & limits — urlset xmlns emitted; files cap at 49,999 URLs with automatic sitemap-index splitting beyond that.
- Date format — lastmod uses W3C Datetime; search engines silently ignore invalid formats and this tool never emits them.
- Honest priority advice — changefreq/priority are weak hints; defaults are sensible rather than every page claiming top priority.
- Escaping — ampersands and quotes escape properly so Search Console accepts the file first try.
Frequently asked questions
How many URLs can one sitemap hold?
The sitemap protocol caps a single file at 50,000 URLs (and 50MB uncompressed) — beyond that, split into multiple sitemap files and list them together using a sitemap index (this tool's other mode).
Do I need to set changefreq and priority accurately?
Google has said it largely ignores both — they're a hint, not a directive most crawlers strictly honor. Getting lastmod right matters more, since it's actually used to prioritize re-crawling.
Is my content uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. Nothing you paste is ever sent to a server.

What Is a Sitemap Generator?
A sitemap is an XML inventory helping crawlers discover URLs worth indexing, each entry with the address plus hints for last modification, change frequency and relative priority. It never boosts ranking; its value is discovery for new pages and deep structures. This generator turns a pasted list with one URL per line into compliant XML, accepting an optional comma style per line for changefreq, priority and lastmod, with weekly frequency and zero point eight priority pre-selected. A second mode merges sitemap addresses into an index for larger estates.
Urlset and index modes explained
- 📝 Urlset mode wrapping each address in loc plus lastmod, changefreq and priority with XML escaping throughout
- 🗂️ Index mode combining whole sitemap addresses under sitemap elements for splitting large sites
- 📅 Seven changefreq values from always to never, unrecognized input falling back to the default
- 🛡️ Escaping of ampersands, brackets, quotes and apostrophes killing hand-built XML mistakes
- 📋 Live entry count plus copy and download for moving the file to its host
Launches and cleanups that need one
- 🚀 A new site whose pages crawlers have never seen, submitted right after going live
- 📦 A bulk push where dozens of fresh addresses need discovery in one shot
Protocol ceilings and placement duties
- 📏 Each file caps at fifty thousand URLs and fifty megabytes, so giants must use the index route
- 📍 The file helps once hosted at its final address and submitted in a search console or robots file
Your address list is converted on-device and never sent off for processing, so unreleased URLs remain confidential until launch day.
