Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded to a server?⌄
No. The audio track is decoded with your browser's built-in Web Audio engine, so the file never leaves your device. There are no queues and no export time limits.
Why WAV and not MP3?⌄
WAV is lossless — the extracted audio is bit-perfect at the original sample rate, which is exactly what you want for editing, transcription or feeding another encoder. Converting straight to MP3 would lose quality a second time. Any editor or online converter can turn the WAV into MP3 if you need one.
Why is the WAV file so big, and how can I make it smaller?⌄
Uncompressed CD-quality stereo is about 10 MB per minute — that is the cost of lossless audio. Choose the mono downmix to halve it (fine for voice recordings, podcasts and lectures), or run the WAV through any MP3/AAC converter afterwards.
