Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded to a server?⌄
No. Everything runs inside your browser using the Canvas and MediaRecorder APIs. Your video never leaves your device, there is no upload queue, and it even works offline once the page is loaded.
Why is the output a WebM file instead of MP4?⌄
The container depends on what your browser can encode: Safari and newer Chrome/Edge produce MP4 (H.264), while other browsers produce WebM (VP9/VP8). WebM plays in every modern browser and uploads fine to YouTube, Telegram and most platforms.
How much smaller will my video get?⌄
It depends on the source. Screen recordings and phone videos are often 50–80% smaller at 720p medium quality. If the source is already heavily compressed at a low bitrate, re-encoding may save little — the size comparison always shows the real result before you download.
