What changes when RAR becomes ZIP
- Files are extracted from the RAR stream, then re-stored into a fresh ZIP with deflate — identical contents, different container.
- ZIP universal support is the point: recipients without RAR tooling can open it anywhere.
- Expect size movement either way — the two compressors optimise differently per file type.

What is preserved
Folder hierarchy, file names including Unicode names, file contents and timestamps are carried over into the new ZIP. The result is an ordinary Deflate-compressed ZIP that every operating system and every unzip tool accepts.

Passwords and split archives
Split archives need every part selected together; the order is detected from the file names and any missing part is named so you can find it. Password-protected archives ask for the password on this page — it is used only inside your browser for that one conversion and is never stored or uploaded.
When you would use it
Share a RAR download with colleagues who do not have WinRAR, upload content to a system that only accepts ZIP, or normalise an archive collection to one universal format for long-term storage.
Honest limits
Creating RAR files is not possible here — the RAR format is proprietary and only RARLAB tools may write it, so conversion is strictly one-way into ZIP. Very large archives meet the usual caps: 10 GB accepted at most, about 512 MB practical on phones and 1.5 GB on desktops.
