What is a DNS lookup used for?⌄
To see the DNS records behind a domain: which servers host its website (A/AAAA), where its email goes (MX), verification and SPF/DKIM strings (TXT), its nameservers (NS), aliases (CNAME) and certificate authorization (CAA). It's essential for diagnosing website/email problems and verifying DNS changes.
How fresh are the results?⌄
We query live DNS-over-HTTPS resolvers (Cloudflare, then Google) and cache each answer for only 2 minutes. Note that DNS changes propagate gradually worldwide — a record you just changed may still show the old value until its previous TTL expires.
Why do A and CNAME both show up?⌄
When a name is a CNAME (alias), resolvers return the CNAME plus the final A/AAAA it points to. We show the whole chain so you can see exactly how the name resolves.
Is it free and private?⌄
Completely free, no sign-up. We only send the domain name you type to public DNS resolvers; we don't log your queries or require an account.
