Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my file get?⌄
It depends on your source bitrate, but Medium typically lands around 128kbps and Low around 64kbps — often a 3-10× reduction from an uncompressed WAV source, with only a small, usually inaudible quality trade-off.
Will this make a lossless file lossy?⌄
Yes — compressing re-encodes the audio at a lower bitrate using a lossy codec (MP3/AAC/OGG by default), which is the whole point of shrinking the file. Pick FLAC as the output if you need to stay lossless (file size savings will be smaller).
What happens to my file?⌄
The upload and the compressed file are deleted automatically within 30 minutes. Jobs are only reachable with your session's signed token.
