Conversion happens 100 percent in your browser with pdf.js — your PDF is never uploaded. The honest trade-off: an image is pixels, so the text in the output is not searchable or selectable, and higher resolutions and quality produce larger files. Password-protected PDFs will show a clear error, and very large documents take longer because every page is rendered one by one.
