BaZi Chart Reading: What Your Four Pillars Mean

A BaZi chart turns a birth date and hour into four pillars — year, month, day and hour — each a pair of Chinese characters, eight in total. Readers tally the five elements across the pillars and weigh them against the Day Master, the day stem that stands for the self.

1. Pillars first, interpretation second

Accurate pillars need the exact birth hour: each two-hour block belongs to a different earthly branch, and a borderline time can flip the whole chart. Convert the date with a reliable calendar, note gender, then let our BaZi reader compute the chart in your browser before any AI reading.

2. Elements and the Day Master

Count wood, fire, earth, metal and water across all eight characters. An element appearing four or more times dominates the chart; one missing entirely marks a gap the reading will address. The Day Master’s strength — supported by its season or standing alone — sets the tone of the whole interpretation.

3. Read it as tendencies, not fate

Classical texts describe dispositions and timing, not fixed outcomes. Use the reading for reflection — career seasons, relationship patterns — and treat any single dramatic claim with skepticism. Entertainment first, decisions second.
